Dental health plays an important role in your dog’s overall wellbeing. Plaque and tartar build-up can contribute to gum inflammation, discomfort and persistent bad breath over time.
Ultrasonic teeth cleaning is a non-invasive treatment that helps to disrupt plaque and reduce tartar without the need for anaesthetic. It uses ultrasonic vibration combined with a specially formulated toothpaste to support oral hygiene.
The first session includes a full oral assessment. We check gum condition, plaque and tartar levels, and assess your dog’s comfort with handling around the mouth before proceeding. This allows us to determine suitability and create a realistic treatment plan where required.
Results vary depending on the level of build-up and individual tolerance. Some dogs may not be comfortable with their mouth being gently held and handled.
Ultrasonic cleaning is not a replacement for veterinary dental treatment. Dogs with advanced periodontal disease, significant infection or mobility of multiple teeth will be referred to a veterinary surgeon for further assessment.
If, during assessment, your dog is found to have significantly loose teeth, advanced dental disease, or is unable to tolerate the procedure safely, treatment may not proceed. In these cases, the assessment session fee still applies as professional time has been allocated and an oral evaluation carried out.
Treatment Plan
Where heavier tartar is present, a course of sessions is recommended to gradually reduce build-up safely and comfortably.
For best results, sessions should be completed within a 6–8 week period. Leaving longer gaps between appointments allows tartar to build up again, reducing the effectiveness of treatment.
Maintenance sessions are most effective once visible tartar has been reduced. Without this initial reduction phase, maintenance alone is unlikely to achieve meaningful improvement.
Each dental course client receives a small take-home oral care gel to support results between sessions and encourage ongoing maintenance at home.
